SILA – the air you breathe

Clean, healthy air is a prerequisite for good health and for general well-being everywhere; at home, at work, in your car, on the bus, outdoors, etc. The presence of ventilation in a space does not automatically mean that the air inside is clean, just as the air that enters when you open a window might not be clean. The air is filled with dust, bacteria, viruses, aerosols, pollen, etc. Much of it is rather harmless, but not all of it.

SILA 60p

SILA 60P is a new air purifier specially designed for quiet public environments such as offices, stores, waiting rooms, hairdressers, dental clinics, restaurants, receptions, warehouses, production premises, etc.

SILA 60p is a quiet air purifier that uses three filtration steps:

  • First, a G4 filter captures visible dust. This is a synthetic fibre filter which is replaced monthly.
  • Secondly, a combined dust and carbon filter (DUO filter) purifies the air. Carbon filters absorb various odours. This filter is replaced annually.
  • Finally, a HEPA H14 filter captures viruses, bacteria, mould spores, and other harmful microscopic particles.

Air Purifiers and ventilation systems

The difference between an air purifier and a standard ventilation system is that the air purifier’s filters are far more efficient. Standard ventilation systems are capable of removing approximately 65% of all intake air particles in the 0.3–1 micrometre range.
An air purifier fitted with a HEPA H14 filter - like ours - captures 99.995% of particles measuring 0.3 micrometres, also known as MPPS (Most Penetrating Particle Size, i.e., the size most difficult for a filter to capture).
This filter captures viruses, bacteria, mould spores and other particles that are harmful to health.

Filters capture particles

Virus particles measure 0.02–0.4 micrometres but need a biological carrier in the form of a droplet or an aerosol in order to be active.
These measure 0.5–10 micrometres and are captured by a H14 filter. For the sake of comparison, pollen particles measure 10–40 micrometres and a human hair 60–120 micrometres. An air purifier does not replace a normal ventilation system. Ventilation is needed in order to ensure the supply of oxygen. The air purifier cleanses the air in the space by circulating it through its filters.

Purified indoor air creates a healthy environment, prevents the spreading of viruses and makes life easier for allergy and asthma-sufferers.
Healthier people equal fewer sick days. The need for cleaning is also reduced as the air purifier captures airborne dust. Clean air also benefits production machinery and office computers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sila 60P filters out bacteria, viruses, pollen, dust, mould spores and much more. Our H14 filters are rated according to standard EN1822:2009, which means that the H14 filter should have a separation rate of 99.995% of the particle that is most difficult to filter out: 0.3 microns.

The DUO-filter is a combination filter, i.e. a filter media that both separates particles and contains activated carbon. The lifespan of active carbon is directly dependent on the concentration of gas compounds in the room where the Sila 60P stands. Normally, the DUO-filter should be replaced once a year, but in situations where the gas compounds are higher, the DUO filter may need to change up to four times per year.

To get the best possible effect, the Air Purifier should be positioned so that as few obstacles as possible block the exhaust air. Place the Sila 60P centrally in the room or along a wall in the middle of the room. If you are going to have several air purifiers in one room, you can contact us for help with the optimum location and results.
